Springtime has arrived at last! The days are finally getting longer, and we can look forward to lighter evenings and warmer temperatures. But how do you breathe life into your home this Easter?

We look at some trending colour palettes being used by leading interior designers for home décor schemes.

Blue and green combos
Bringing the natural world inside your home is still bang on trend. Green represents foliage and blue hints at the sky above, and together they make a beautiful combo. We’re seeing designers mix and match blue and green colour palettes for living room décor schemes. The ultimate trending shade this year is teal. This vibrant shade can be accented with deep greens and light blues around the room. For blue-sky thinking, paint your ceiling blue.

Back to the earth
Continuing with this natural vibe, we’re also seeing interior designs creating schemes based on earthy yet lighter tones. Beige and
cream furniture and furnishings will create the perfect backdrop for any room features, such as lamps, ornaments and family photos. This soft colour scheme will also help to accentuate natural spring sunlight. Too muted for your taste? Enhance your room colour palette with an antique velvet chair and footstool in mustard.

Pink and blue hues
Whether it’s the ever-popular historical dramas or a return to our Regency past, some designers are mixing soft pinks with pale blues. This combo can really freshen up a dull room, echoing springtime blossom and blue skies. Use this colour palette carefully to avoid creating an overly pretty living room (unless this is your aim!). Instead, look for wallpaper that combines these colours, paint wall panels light blue and add a reclining chair in dusty pink.

Be bold and brave
The easiest way to inject some colour into your home this springtime is to find a bright accent shade that enhances your living areas. A few well-curated items in a room can transform the look and feel of the space. Walls with warm or rosy hues can be brought back to life with bright pinks and bold reds. Use together in a patterned cushion, rug, throw or add a feature
reclining chair in red tartan. Get creative and experiment with your colour schemes.

Sunshine yellows
Last but not least, a splash of yellow in a living area can really bring the sunshine into your home. After all, April is full of rainy days, so you can't guarantee daily sunshine. This is a wonderful way to add a pop of colour to a room, especially in a kitchen. Yellow is a perennial favourite for kitchens, especially when combined with blue and white to create a fresh look. You can also inject life into a blue-themed living space with a yellow linen accent chair.

Showcase interior features
As always, there’s a few daring interior designers that make us rethink our home colour schemes. An interesting trend this year is to highlight any architectural features in your home with strong bold colours. Paint above picture rails to coat ceiling roses and architraves in a deep pink or red to create an Eastern vibe in your home. Offset the richly coloured walls with a neutral grey sofa and chaise seat, cushions and floor coverings.

As spring is here at last, we can finally say goodbye to never-ending gloomy mornings and early nights, and hello to brighter, warmer weather ahead. Now’s the perfect time to make use of this positive season and upgrade your home with some fresh spring colours. So, what changes can you make today that will help you enjoy your home this Easter and beyond?
