How long have you been sitting in your favourite chair? Over the years, you’ve probably clocked up hundreds of hours in the same seat.

Perhaps it’s time to ask yourself whether your old faithful chair has finally outlived its useful life? Most people don’t recognise when it’s time for new furniture, so we’ve put together a simple guide to help you check whether your current armchair has passed its use by date...

1. Sunken Cushion

As time goes by, your furniture will lose some support due to constant use. If the cushion on your favourite armchair isn’t quite as plump and perky as it once was, it’s a sure sign that you are missing out on the right support. Slumping and slouching when you’re relaxing won’t do you any favours, no matter how faithful a companion your old chair has been over the years. Time to get yourself a younger model!

2. Wobbly Wheels

When your chair wheels start to drag or you’re having to push harder to move the chair into position, this is a sign that the wheels are wearing out. This is particularly important in office style chairs, for safety as much as for ease of use. Nobody wants to crash out of a chair due to a broken wheel. And, you certainly won’t want to damage any hard floors with wonky wheels, as this could cause unsightly scratches and scuff marks.

3. Faded Fabric

Nothing lasts forever, and chair covers are no exception, so if you’ve had your chair for a few years now and you’ve noticed that the colour is starting to fade, then it’s definitely time for an upgrade. If your beloved chair is positioned in a sunny spot, you may see colour changes in the fabric and it may start to look a little weathered too.

4. Wear and Tear

However well you’ve looked after your furniture over the years, chairs and sofas will inevitably suffer some general wear and tear. If you have pets or small children, scratches and even pen marks will take their toll. And, let’s not even mention those accidental food and drink spillages! If your favourite chair has seen better days, it may be time to treat yourself to a new piece of furniture.

5. Not Working

Has your recliner stopped, well, reclining? Maybe your office chair won’t fully adjust to suit your posture? Whatever the problem, if your chair has stopped behaving as it should, why not take a look at our Huge Range of Chairs, which all come with a 12-month warranty.
